Members of the Workers’ Council of the Petroleum Bulk Procurement Agency (PBPA) have been urged to uphold integrity, transparency, and professionalism when presenting and addressing employees’ concerns, in order to enhance efficiency and productivity within the institution.
The call was made on March 11, 2026 by PBPA’s Finance and Planning Manager, Mr. Kedron Mbwilo, who was speaking on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer during the opening of the Second Workers’ Council Meeting held at the Mwalimu Nyerere Leadership School in Kibaha, Coast Region.
He noted that the Workers’ Council serves as an important platform that connects management and staff, and therefore members must carry out their responsibilities with integrity and accountability to ensure that employees’ issues are properly presented and effectively resolved.
“The Workers’ Council is a vital link between management and staff. Members have a responsibility to act with integrity and represent their fellow employees with a high level of professionalism in order to improve institutional performance and productivity,” emphasized Mr. Mbwilo.
He also encouraged PBPA staff to continue working collaboratively and with dedication in support of the Government’s efforts to achieve the National Development Vision 2050, which in the energy sector aims to ensure reliable availability of petroleum products, strong oil infrastructure, and effective management of petroleum resources.
On his part, Acting Human Resources Manager at PBPA, Mr. Matiko Sanawa, urged council members to use the meeting as an opportunity to openly discuss views, recommendations, and various challenges that will contribute to strengthening the institution’s operations.
He further explained that the Workers’ Council meeting is conducted in accordance with legal requirements and, among other matters, will deliberate on the implementation report of the Work Plan and Budget for the period July 2025 to December 2026. The meeting will also include the presentation of the draft PBPA Work Plan for the period 2026/2027 to 2030/2031, as well as the draft budget for the 2026/2027 financial year.
